Obituary of James Felton Ridgeway

James Felton Ridgeway, 83, husband of Linda Elaine Jordan Ridgeway, died Saturday, September 30, 2023 at his home in Sumter. Born May 25, 1940 in Sumter, he was a son of the late McLaurin Ridgeway and Pearl Prescott Ridgeway. He was a retired US Navy veteran and an electrician. He was an avid fisherman. In addition to his wife of Sumter, he is survived by 2 daughters, Lina Elaine Poe (Mark) of Irmo and Maria Anne Conyers (Rusty) of Snow Hill, NC; a son, Jimmy McLaurin Ridgeway (Brandy) of Sumter; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and an expected great-great granddaughter, Rylee Lynne Atkinson; a special nephew, Roy Bryant; and a sister, Sarah Bryant. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Michael Ridgeway and 6 brothers and sisters. A memorial service with Military Honors will be held 2 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Conyers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel and other times at the home.
