Obituary of Carolyn Atkinson Baker

Carolyn Atkinson Baker 80, widow of Edward Laverne Baker, Sr., died Saturday, October 7, 2023, at her home in Mayesville. Born February 1, 1943, in Darlington, she was a daughter of the late John Muldrow Atkinson and Elise Howle Atkinson. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Rhonda Finley of Bishopville, a son, Edward L. “Eddie” Baker, Jr. (Trease) of Mayesville; three sisters, Annelle Rabon of Lugoff, Macey Kirven and Margie Berry of Hartsville; and a brother, Allen Atkinson of Hartsville; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and one sister. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. James Chandler and Rev. Gene Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral home and at other times at the home of Mrs. Baker in Mayesville.
