Obituary of Helen Foster Finley

Helen Foster Finley, 89, widow of Robert “Bob” Walter Finley, died Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Lexington Medical Center. Born in Erwin, TN, she was a daughter of the late Larkin Foster and Minta Farner Foster. Mrs. Finley was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Sumter until she and Bob moved to Village at Southlake in Lexington, SC when they joined Lexington Baptist Church. She was the former Choir Director and Organist at Mayesville Presbyterian Church and at Southern Methodist Church in Sumter. She was also an organist for numerous funeral homes. She retired from First Federal Savings & Loan (BB&T). She also worked at Colonial Packaging Company until she was 80. Anytime she was able to use her gifted musical talents she enjoyed doing so for many decades. She was an excellent cook and blessed many friends and family with her homestyle cooking skills. Surviving are three daughters, Jan Kaneft (Bill) of Columbia, SC, Brenda Brittingham (Truitt) of Lexington, and Myra Lynch of Lexington; a brother, Harold Foster of Garden City, SC; seven grandchildren, Beau Kaneft (Alle), Brent Kaneft (Jess), Meredith Pendley (Nick), J. T. Brittingham III (Mari), Caroline McEntire (Morgan), Matthew Artem Lynch, and Vera Grace Lynch; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, November 4, 2023, in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. Saturday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Private burial will be held in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P. O.
