Obituary of Belle Conyers

Russell Belle “Rutt” Conyers, born on July 8, 1943, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, after a battle with renal cancer and Paraneoplastic Syndrome. She was 80 years old and was married to Levon “Red” Conyers for 63 years. Belle was born in Sumter County, the daughter of the late Russell and Bell Kirby McElveen. She spent most of her career working in home health. She enjoyed working with the elderly, helping them with everyday tasks in their homes, and being a companion to them. She was a faithful member of The Church of God of Prophecy for over 50 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Belle is survived by her husband Levon, her four children, Gloria Martin (Ed), Tammy Oswalt (Randy), Tracy Conyers, and Camilla Campbell (Kenny); 10 grandchildren; Nicole Holliday (Brad), Matthew Brown, Rachel McKenzie (Bryce), Caleb Oswalt (Jordan), Kirkland Hanks, Jeremy Hanks, Justin Conyers, Christopher Weaver, Brandon Conyers, and Hunter Conyers; five great-grandchildren, Jazmine Brown, Stormy Brown, Sam Brown, Abel Ammons, and Lucy Cate Oswalt; three siblings, Mary Lee Coates, Brenda McElveen, and Earl McElveen; also a host of special nieces and nephews. Belle was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Bell McElveen, and six siblings, Ida Mae Wright, Betty Yarborough, Evelyn Conyers, Lill Rogers, David McElveen, and Anna Lou Atkinson. Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon Saturday at The Church of God of Prophecy at 718 Boulevard Road in Sumter with Bishop Edward Fleming, D.Min officiating. Burial will follow at the Green Acres Cemetery at 537 Lewis Road. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon, one hour prior to the service in the Church of God of Prophecy and other times at 310 Pittman Drive.
