With a very sad Heart I send this condolence. Chief Eli Parnell will be missed and remembered by all who knew him. He had a Presence about him that was unmistakable. Most of the time, in the work environment, he knew what you were thinking before saying it. One had to understand him to really serve with him. He was a Pillar in the Fire Service in all he did from the Sumter Fire Department to the many associations he belonged to supporting SC, and the Fire Service. He grew up in the same neighborhood as I did and knew him on the family and friends level as well as the Sumter Fire Department working level. I was out of town working on the day of his Memorial and was very sad I couldn't be there. RIP until we meet again...Mike Dunlap

I remember Mr Parnell from growing up as a child around the Sumter Fire Department family for the 34 years my dad Charles Holland worked along side Mr Parnell. My sincerest condolences and prayers for comfort for his family and close friends
