Obituary of Shirley Chambers Fryer

Shirley Chambers Fryer 73, widow of Robert Benjamin Fryer, Jr., died Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at her home. Born September 6, 1950, in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Walter Chambers and the late Nezzie Cunningham Chambers. Mrs. Fryer was a member of Grace Full Gospel Church and was retired from Sumter School District. Surviving are a daughter, Renee Fryer DuBose of Sumter; a daughter-in-law, Leslie Qualls Fryer; seven grandchildren, Samuel DuBose (Emily), Jaymi DuBose both of Sumter; Austin Fryer, Landon Fryer, Rylan Fryer, Sarah Fryer and Owen Fryer all of Bishopville; two sisters-in-law, Emma Jo Horne and Betty Evans both of Sumter; two brothers-in-law, Glenn Frye of Columbia and Randy Frye of Sumter. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Jamie Fryer and Bobby Fryer, two brothers and a sister. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Grace Full Gospel Church with the Rev. Clyde Chan and Rev. Seth Cowart, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8PM Saturday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home.
