To Bambi and all family members of Betty Jean.
It’s hard to express how much I will miss her. We have more recently been communicating through phone calls and texts. It gave me so much joy to hear her voice, recall memories of a friendship that spanned so many years. We met on the playground during 7th grade at Sumter Junior high during a lunch recess and that same year she taught me to Shag in the school gym. Betty Jean was always full of funny quips so we laughed a lot. We wore purple skirts to the season opening of Edmonds High School football game. I was invited by her family to go to the beach. When I had to move to Greenville, S.C., Betty Jean visited me and I later visited her and her family in Sumter. Years passed, but we stayed in touch by phone and letters. We each married, had children, and when Bambi was 7 months old she and White visited us in Atlanta. Our baby was 3 months old. Bambi at 7 months was already pulling up to tables and taking steps! When Edmonds had a class reunion she called to invite me to meet her in Sumter with plans to go to her Aunts place at Myrtle Beach along with other friends. Betty Jean had a travel agency in Indiana and she called to sign me up to join a group of women on a planned cruise. Betty Jean was my Dear Friend for what seems to me all my life. I will miss her the rest of my years.
