Obituary of Herbert Harold Hightower

USAF Retired Master Sergeant Herbert Harold Hightower, 84, husband of Helen Mitchell Hightower, died Thursday, November 28, 2024, at his home. Born September 2, 1940, in Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late Isaac Hightower and Ola Mae Watson Hightower. Mr. Hightower was a Mason and was a member of Plaza Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, where he was a photographer. He was later employed by the U. S. Post Office. Surviving is his wife of Dalzell; two daughters, LaFaye Elizabeth Hightower and Danielle Elizabeth Hightower of Spring, TX; a son, Herbert Harold Hightower, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC; a stepdaughter, Dione Perry of Ft. Mill, SC; two grandchildren, Rachel Perry and Steven Perry; and a stepson, Reginald Mitchell (Nicole) of VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Patricia Elizabeth Hightower, three siblings, Richard Sterling, Dorothy Jean Crawford, and Shirley Ann Hightower and a daughter-in-law, Emmy Vrieling Hightower. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Plaza Church of Christ, 1402 Camden Hwy., Sumter, with Mr. Harry Davis officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, 802 N. Guignard Drive, Sumter. The family will receive friends from 4 PM to 6 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 5566 Whisperwood Drive, Dalzell, SC 29040.
