Obituary of Dr. George "Cal" C. Aycock, Jr.

Dr. George Calhoun (Cal) Aycock, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. He was born May 6, 1950, to the late George Calhoun Aycock, Sr. and Ruth Griffin Aycock. He graduated from Furman High School and received degrees from Wofford College and the Medical University of South Carolina. Following graduation, Cal pursued his life-long dream of following in the footsteps of his mentors, Dr. Perry Davis and Dr. Robert Jackson. Cal went on to practice medicine as a Family Practitioner and ER physician. His favorite hobbies were playing golf, spending time with his family, and cheering for the Gamecocks alongside his parents, who were avid fans. He was a member of Lakewood Golf Course, Zoar Church and was a member of the Gamecock Club for 44 years. Surviving are Pam Miles (Randy) of Goose Creek, SC, George Calhoun Aycock, III (Danielle) of Guyton, GA, Meg Dale (Clay) of Uruguay and Ashley Stockton (Casey) of Marion, NC; siblings, Laura Morris (Steve) and Libby Aycock; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son and infant grandson. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, December 9, 2024, at Zoar Church with Rev. Allen Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends 10-11 Monday before the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in the Weeks Cemetery in Pinewood, SC.
