Retired U. S. Air Force Colonel William “Bill” Lewis Stover, 78, husband of Bettie Bernard Stover, died Sunday, June 26, 2016, at his home.
Born in Henderson, Kentucky, he was a son of the late William Cody and Eilene Hawkins Stover.
Mr. Stover was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in Lexington, KY and received his master’s degree from Trinity University. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with 26 years of service and was a member of American Legion Post 15. He was a pharmacist owner and operator of Sibert’s Drug Store. He was a member of the S.C. Pharmacy Association.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two daughters, Paula Stover of Sumter, Allison Stover Leard (James) of Charleston; two sisters, Joyce Larue (Clarence) and Shirley Hancock (James); one brother, Kenneth Edward Stover (Gloria) all of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Ashley Stover Kinney (Thompson), William Tradd Watterson Stover, Mary Emerson Leard, and James Samuel Leard; a brother-in-law, Dr. Joe Bernard (Libby); a sister-in-law, Glenna Bernard Bertram (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Angela Marshall officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home.
