Obituary of Douglas W. Robinson

Douglas Wesley Robinson, Jr., 87, husband of Carolyn Dennis Robinson, died Monday, August 29, 2016, at a local nursing center. Born in Turbeville, he was a son of the late Douglas Wesley Robinson, Sr. and Lillie Belle Player Robinson. Mr. Robinson was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and the retired owner and operator of Robinson’s Cover Shop. He was twice married, first to the late Winnie Welch Robinson. Surviving are his wife of Olanta; two sons, Jimmy Robinson and wife Marsha of Summerton, Wesley Robinson and wife Lynn of Manning; three daughters, Linda Ann Poole and husband Albert of Mayesville, Janet Redel and husband Dale of Summerton, Wendy Atkinson and husband Tommy of Sumter; one sister, Myrtle Lee Chelluk of Columbia; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eli Robinson and Jack Robinson; a sister, Bessie Mae Floyd; two grandsons, Lynn Wesley Robinson and Shane Michael Parry. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. George Smith and the Rev. Jim Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Turbeville. Pallbearers will be Douglas Poole, D. J. Poole, Christopher Devine, James Young, Chris Redel and Shane Parry.
