Obituary of Emmy M. Palka

Emmy Magdalena Stuchlik Palka, 94, widow of Walter John Palka, died peacefully at her home, Friday, October 7, 2016.
Born in Bytom, Poland, she was a daughter of the late Oskar Karl and Philomena Ernestina Wiedara Stuchlik.
Mrs. Palka was a member of Our Lady of the Skies Catholic Church. She contributed in the church by washing linens, ushering, counting money and providing the Eucharist to the home bound. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Group for many years. She also volunteered at the Shaw AFB Hospital. Mrs. Palka devoted her life to staying home and caring for her children and family.
Surviving are children, Kitty (Byron) Jamison and Thomas (Helen) Palka of Sumter, Mike (Laurie) Palka of Jackson, GA, Dorothy (Barry) Clark of Warner Robins, GA and Walter John Palka Jr. of Columbia; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:15 A.M. Wednesday at the Friendship Chapel at Shaw Air Force Base with Msg. Mark Rowan officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
A Rosary will be held at 6 P.M. Tuesday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with visitation following until 8 P.M.
