Obituary of Robert L. Welch

Robert Lee Welch, 63, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Palmetto Health Tuomey. Born in Sumter, a son of the late Malcom George Welch and Mary Frances Mixon, Robert was a professional carpenter until he had to retire. One of his favorite pastimes was playing the guitar. If he wasn’t playing his guitar he was on his lawnmower cutting the grass, relaxing in the pool, or out on the lake fishing. One of his fondest memories was the train ride he took to Florida to visit his best friend, Trish. He was loved by all that knew him and will be missed dearly. He is survived by three sons, Brandon McConnell (Khira), Josh McConnell, and Robert Lee Welch, Jr.; five daughters, Michelle Welch, Deborah Welch, Lori Welch, Danielle Brown (A.J.), and Lisa Welch; two sisters, Frances Jean Hallman, and Cindy Rosser (Roger); thirteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Angela Welch; a brother; and two sisters. Memorial services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, December 17, at Promise Land Ministries with the Reverend James McElveen officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Saturday, prior to the service at Promise Land Ministries and other times at the home, 319 Myrtle Beach Hwy.
