Obituary of Marion Kriegner Young

Marion Kriegner Young, 97, beloved wife of Kenneth R. Young, Sr died peacefully at home February 19, 2017.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey on December 12, 1919, she was the daughter of Frank C. and Mary P. Kriegner and was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank C. Kriegner, Jr. of Ewing, NJ and Robert J. Kriegner of Tuckerton, NJ. A sister, Florence Gnazzo, currently resides in Mayer,Arizona.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1942 where she was an active member of Circle #5, the Berean Sunday School Class and the Helen Murray Bible Study Group. She received an Honorary Life Membership in the Presbyterian Women. She was a member of IOTA Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Gardenmakers.
She graduated from the College of New Jersey and received her Masters Degree in Education from the University of South Carolina. She taught school in Asbury Park, NJ and served as the school librarian at Alice Drive Elementary and Millwood Elementary Schools for over 20 years.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, she is survived by three sons; Sumter attorney, Kenneth R. Young, Jr (Sharon); COL(ret), Robert F. Young (Carla); SC Circuit Judge W. Jeffrey Young (Sharon); and a daughter, Patricia Y. Phillips (retired school teacher) from Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren, S. Boyd Young, Jennifer Y. Pierce, Lisa V. Smoak, W. Mark Phillips and Suzanne Young Britton, Elizabeth Y. Hudson, William R. Young, Robert S. Young and Greyson S. Young, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Pallbearers will be her nephew and grandchildren Jonathan T. Smoak, W. Mark Phillips, S. Boyd Young, William R. Young, Robert S. Young, and Greyson S. Young.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, February 23 in the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Nick Cheek and Reverend Dan Barber officiating.
The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall at First Presbyterian Church of Sumter immediately following the service.
A burial service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
