Obituary of Myrtle Azile Lackey

Myrtle Azile Lackey, 106, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at McElveen Manor.  

 

Born in Paxville, she was a daughter of the late Joshua Preston Lackey and Rosalie Barwick Lackey.

 

Miss Lackey was the oldest living member of First Baptist Church in Florence and was a member for 73 years.  She served as a member of the choir for over 60 years.  She was a retired bookkeeper with S.H. Kress & Company.

 

Surviving are one brother, J. P. Lackey of Greenville, SC; one sister, Blondine Still of Hanahan, SC six nieces, Deanna Galloway of Sumter, Rachel Lackey of NC, Susan Still,  Evadne Still Godbold both of Hanahan, Carol Etheridge and Joan Waddell both of Greenville; three nephews, Phil Lackey of Sumter, Josh Lackey III of Greenville, and Shelton “Sheck” E. Lackey of Orangeburg. 

 

She was predeceased by three brothers, Elwood J. Lackey, Winfred Bowen Lackey, Huggins Lackey; two sisters, Eulalie Hughes, Doris Copeland; and a special niece, Rhonda Hughes.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday at the Paxville Baptist Church, 10278 Lewis Road, Manning, SC with Rev. Jim Johnson officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Home Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, 2398 Home Branch Road, Manning, SC.

 

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Monday at the Paxville Baptist Church.
