Obituary of Julia Kirby Davis

 

Julia “Judy” Kirby Davis, 83, wife of Marion H. Davis, Sr., died Sunday, July 30, 2017, at National Healthcare Center. 

Julia “Judy” Kirby Davis, 83, wife of Marion H. Davis, Sr., died Sunday, July 30, 2017, at National Healthcare Center. 

 

Born in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph T. Kirby, Sr. and Cora Coleman Kirby.

 

Mrs. Davis was a member of Grace Baptist Church.  She was employed by several insurance firms in the Sumter area from 1950 until the early 1990’s.

 

Surviving are her husband of Sumter; two sons, Dr. Marion H. “Buddy” Davis, Jr. (Patricia) and Larry G. Davis, Sr. all of Sumter; one sister, Helen Kirby Young of Oxon Hill, MD; four grandchildren, Nina Davis Whorton (Josh), Larry Glenn Davis, Jr., Rebecca Hardee Niswonger (Patrick), David Benson Hardee; 4 great-grandchildren, Maclane Joshua Whorton, Kendall Essie Schlager, Matthew Niswonger, and Joshua Niswonger.

 

She was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Thomas Kirby, Jr. and three sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Kirby Holliday, Annie Ruth Kirby Brewer and Lois Faye Kirby Bosky; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Marie Hughes Davis. 

 

Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Stephen Williams officiating.

 

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
