Morris K. “Jackie” Ford, III, 78, husband of Patricia Pringle Ford, died Friday, December 14, 2018 at his home.

 

Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Morris K. Ford, Jr and Myrtle Montgomery Ford.

 

Jackie regularly attended Paxville Baptist Church and also Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Atlanta. He was a retired pilot with National Airlines, Pan American, and United Airlines with over 31 years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force Captain serving in Vietnam.

 

Jackie, or “Poppy” to his grandkids, adored his family above all, especially his wife of 55 years, Patty, their four children, and their eight grandchildren. He was a loving brother, uncle, and friend.

 

Jackie was the quintessential Southern gentleman, chivalrous, tender-hearted, and kind to all.  He was devoted to his country, a true patriot.  He had a brilliant, curious mind and offered wise, carefully considered counsel.  His was a precious, generous soul with the biggest heart.  We will love him and miss him forevermore.

 

Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two sons, Morris Kyle Ford (Lisa) and Mason William Ford (Julie) all of San Mateo, CA; two daughters, Michelle Patricia Ford (Francis Coen) of Pacific Grove, CA and Melissa Ford Coleman (Kevin) of New York, NY; two sisters, Margaret Ford Barnwell (Charles) of Orangeburg and Deborah “Debby” Ford Williams (Ted) of Sumter; and eight grandchildren, Ava, Mackenzie, Caroline, William, Emerson, Luke, Thomas, and Jack.

 

Graveside Services will be held at 2 PM Monday at the Jerusalem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Elloree, SC (Old Highway # 6, Elloree, SC) with Rev. Jim Johnson officiating.

 

The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Sunday at the home.
