Obituary of Marion H. Davis, Sr.

Marion H. Davis, Sr., 90, widower of Julia “Judy” Kirby Davis, died Thursday, January 10, 2019, at his home.

 

Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late William Robert Davis, Sr. and Gladys Wells Davis. 

 

Mr. Davis was a member of Grace Baptist Church.  He retired from Sumter Dairies with 40 years of service.

 

Surviving are two sons, Dr. Marion H. “Buddy” Davis, Jr. (Patricia) and Larry G. Davis, Sr. all of Sumter; four grandchildren, Nina Davis Whorton (Josh), Larry Glenn Davis, Jr., Rebecca Hardee Niswonger (Patrick), David Benson Hardee; 4 great-grandchildren, Maclane Joshua Whorton, Kendall Essie Schlager, Matthew Niswonger, and Joshua Niswonger and a brother, Charles Davis (May) of Sumter.

 

He was predeceased by three brothers, Dr. S. Perry Davis, Sr., William Robert Davis, Jr., and Richard Gordon Davis and one sister, Elizabeth Davis Ardis.

 

Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Stephen Williams officiating.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Saturday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
