Glenn Geddings Sewell, 100, widow of Fred A. Sewell, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2016, at Palmetto Health Tuomey. Born October 8, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Washington Geddings and Maria Louisa Geddings. She graduated from Sumter Girls High School and a local business college. She retired in New Orleans from a large bakery firm where she managed the staff for 14 bakeries. Surviving are one sister, Em Geddings Follin of Sumter; one brother T. W. Geddings, Jr. of Lima, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews including Mary Alice and Bobby Beatson, Jeanie Follin McIntosh; caregivers, and her special caregiver, Lou Dixon who was with her to the end. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Beatson, Mana Geddings, Gladys Dietz and three brothers, Ladson Geddings, Eugene Geddings and Clarence Geddings. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Browder and Rev. John Sorrells officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, prior to the service at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
