Obituary of James Ira Montalbano
James “Jim” Ira Montalbano, 71, husband of Faye Lenoir Weatherly Montalbano, died Wednesday, October 30, 2019.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late James Montalbano and Peggy Barwick Montalbano.
A former resident of North Carolina for the past 50 years, he recently returned to Sumter in July of this year.
Mr. Montalbano was a graduate of Edmunds High School and served in the SC National Guard. He was the retired owner and operator of American Accents Furniture Store in High Point, NC where he was a member of numerous furniture related organizations. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two sisters, Marsha Aull and Theresa Ray both of Sumter; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Scooter, Barney, Buddy and Prissy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Durham officiating.
Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Robert “Bob” Hillman.
The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. Sunday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sumter SPCA, 1140 S. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
