Obituary of Valarie Bass

Valarie Shirah Bass, 79, widow of the late Robert E. Bass, Jr., died Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Bernice M. Shirah. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from Bass Convenience Store and Quality Vending. She is survived by 2 sons, Robert E. Bass, III and James Terry Bass (Heather); a sister, Leona McCoy; 3 grandchildren, Jamie, Alex and Mason Bass, all of Sumter. A graveside service will be held 10:00 Tuesday at Mayesville Black River Cemetery with Dr. David Richardson presiding.
