Obituary of Evelyn Morgan Mitchell

Evelyn Morgan Mitchell, 95, widow of Benjamin Daniel Mitchell, Jr., died Friday, November 20, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Clifton M. Morgan and Maurice Crim Morgan. Mrs. Mitchell was a charter member of St. John United Methodist Church. She was the Vice President of First Federal Savings & Loan and retired from BB&T. Surviving are two daughters, Claudia Mitchell Dority (David) of Greenwood and Peggy Mitchell Newman (Michael) of Sumter; one brother, Clifton M. Morgan of Fayetteville, NC; one sister, Joan Brashear (Walt) of Sumter; four grandchildren, Hollie Motley (Charles), Joseph Dority (Cathy), Mica N. Griggs (Greg), Matthew M. Newman (Kelly); six great-grandchildren, Morgan Griggs, Jack Dority, Ben Dority, Luke Dority, Caffrey Newman and Campbell Evelyn Newman. She was preceded in death by a brother, J. Carlyle Morgan; two sisters, Mildred Ramey and Beulah Greer. Graveside Services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bob Huggins and Rev. David Dority officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. All attendees are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
