Obituary of Ricky Eugene Mann

Please share a memory of Ricky to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ricky Eugene Mann, 56, of Dalzell, SC transitioned to Heaven on Sunday, September 4, 2022, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with melanoma. Ricky was born on December 10, 1965, to the late Mr. Floyd William Mann and the late Murlene W. Mann in Florala, Alabama. Ricky grew up in Orangeburg, SC. He graduated from Orangeburg Wilkinson High School where he was part of ROTC and enlisted into the Army reserve while still attending high school. After high school, he went to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and then returned home to serve in the National Guard reserve, serving his country. While serving in the Army he received a Sharpshooter M-16 Marksmanship Badge among others. After leaving his military service with an honorable discharge he became a Commercial License Driver and began his career as a truck driver moving supplies around the country. In 2017, he moved to Dalzell for a fresh start and went to work for Green Savannah Nursery as a landscaper and crew leader until he was unable to continue working. Ricky had a big heart and was loved by many. Ricky was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed working as a landscaper, sitting on the deck enjoying nature, camping, or spending time at the beach. The low country coastlines were his happy place, especially Beaufort County. Ricky was preceded in death by his sister Sharon Byrer. Surviving are his children, Michael William Mann and Dalton Mann all of Orangeburg, South Carolina; a grandson Eden Mann; his sister Joyce (Jeff) Shreve of Dalzell, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews including Victoria Shreve: great nephew, Riley; great niece Lily; two half-siblings, cousins and Aunt Virginia Mann. We want to give a special thank you to Jaclyn Wells, RN for her compassion and prayer over Ricky during his transition. A celebration of Ricky’s life will be on October 8th at Hunting Island State Park, 2566 Sea Island PKWY, Hunting Island, SC 29920 at noon. Friends and family will gather, fellowship and celebrate memories of Ricky at the picnic shelter.
