Obituary of Vendola "Dinky" Russell

Vendola “Dinky” Russell,91, widow of John Tyler “J.T.” Russell, Jr., died Sunday, May 19, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Russell was a faithful charter member of Fraser Memorial Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two sons, Stephen Russell (Malinda) of Sumter, SC, and Daniel (Renee) Russell of Alcolu; one daughter, Rosanna Shirer of Alcolu; two sisters, Travis (Bobby) Mims of Sumter and Martha (Chip) McClard of N. Augusta, SC; five grandchildren, Lacie Cannon (Jeremy), Russell Shirer, Adam Russell (Hannah), Ross Russell, and Sarah Russell; four great-grandchildren, Blaine, Mason, Madeline and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by a son, J. D. Russell; her son-in-law, J. Alex Shirer; a granddaughter, Kristin Bailey; six sisters, Mary Weatherly, Davies Gaddy, Dorcas Ann Savage, Faye Gammon, Agnes “Mickey” Weatherly and Shelby McKenzie. Memorial Services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Baynai and Pastor Chuck Staggs officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. Wednesday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. The family would like to especially thank her granddaughter, Sarah for her special care and also express sincere gratitude to devoted and faithful caregivers, Teresa “Tudy” Irick and Sellarhea Jordan, Agape Hospice and SC House Calls.
